Policy

Working with other organisations

As a small charity, we understand the need to work collaboratively with other charities and organisations.  Here is a selection of the charities and organisations that we work with:

Headache UK

Headache UK is the umbrella organisation for migraine and headache organisations.  Its members are:

  • The Migraine Trust
  • BASH (British Association for the Study of Headache)
  • OUCH (Organisation for the Understanding of Cluster Headache)
  • Trigeminal Neuralgia Association
  • Royal College of General Practitioners (through its Headache Champion)

Headache UK works together in particular, to support the work of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Primary Headache Disorders.

Neurological Alliance

The Neurological Alliance is an umbrella organisation bringing together charities representing individuals with neurological health conditions.  We are a member of the NA and also contribute to its Policy Group.

Health Conditions in Schools Health Alliance

The Health Conditions in Schools Health Alliance is a loose body of over 30 charities working to raise the needs of children in school who have long term health conditions.  The Alliance works with civil servants, politicians, education professionals and unions.  In 2009 the Alliance held a successful Young Person’s Question Time in Parliament enabling young people to directly inform to decision makers about how their health condition impacted upon their education.  The Alliance has recently (June 2011) made a formal response to the SEN Green Paper.

Patients Association

We work closely with the Patients Association through its Network for Patients.  The Network has been very active in relation to the Health and Social Care Bill resulting in a letter to the Minister of State for Health from 40 charities during the Bills 'listening stage'.

Europe

In addition to being active in the UK we are also active in Europe through working with both the European Headache Alliance (an alliance of European patient organisations) and the European Headache Federation with whom we co-host the biennial European Headache and Migraine Trust International Congress.

Others

We are also members of the Association of Medical Research Charities, Chronic Pain Policy Coalition, National Council of Voluntary Organisations, National Voices and Patient Information Forum.
