Media Case Studies

Sample Case Studies
Woman, aged 22, suffers with migraine with, hemiplegic migraine, menstrual migraine and tension-type headache. Has 1-2 attacks per month and suffers with vomiting, dizziness and vertigo. Currently taking beta blockers and anti-depressants. Has tried relaxation, massage, feverfew and reflexology. Started suffering at the age of 14 which got worse when 16-17 and would vomit 6-9 times during a migraine attack.
Man, aged 42, suffers with migraine with aura and tension type headache. He has suffered with migraines since a teenager. Has two migraines per month and during his attacks has visual distubances and numbness in one side of his body. Is currently taking beta blockers and has tried relaxation therapy and osteopathy. On a scale of 1-10 he rates his pain as an eight. Is now unemployed due to ill health but whilst in employment "migraines had a major impact on my life".
Woman, aged 49, suffers with migraine with aura and has 20 attacks per year. During her attacks she suffers with vertigo, leg pain, constipation and weakness in her left arm. On a scale of 1-10 she rates her pain as a ten. Is currently using painkillers but has tried triptans, prescription painkillers, beta blockers, massage and feverfew. Her migraines take 2-3 days to develop and "during aura stage and for about 12 hours after, I find it hard to function normally".
