Barts Choir chooses The Migraine Trust to be its Charity of the Year for 2020

This is the first time that The Migraine Trust has been chosen as a Charity of the Year

We are delighted to announce that we have been chosen as the Barts Choir’s Charity of the Year for 2020.

This is the first time that The Migraine Trust has been chosen as a Charity of the Year and we are looking forward to working with Barts Choir on increasing awareness and understanding of migraine and raising crucial funds to help people affected by it and for migraine research.

This is important and needed because migraine is a complex and disabling brain disease that affects 10 million people in the UK alone. Migraine attacks usually last from 4 to 72 hours and migraine can have a significant impact on work, family and social lives. We have been working since 1965 to help people affected by the condition.

The Barts Choir was also founded in 1965, when it was formed by a group of nurses at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. It is now one of London’s largest choral societies with around 300 regular members, offering amateur voices a wonderful opportunity to sing a variety of choral works under professional guidance. The choir performs in prestigious venues such as the Royal Festival Hall and Cadogan Hall.

The Migraine Trust and Barts Choir are particularly happy our partnership is taking place on the year that we both celebrate our 55th anniversary as it will give our joint promotional and fundraising activity special momentum.

Thanking Barts Choir for choosing The Migraine Trust to be its Charity of the Year, Gus Baldwin, our chief executive, said:

“We are thrilled to have been chosen as the Barts Choir’s Charity of the Year. This is the first time that we have been chosen for an annual partnership and we are looking forward to working hard with the choir to increase awareness and understanding of migraine and vital funds to help people affected by it.

“We are very grateful to them for this fantastic opportunity. It is a wonderful way to mark our joint 55th anniversaries.”

Speaking about the partnership, Bart’s Choir’s secretary, Evelina Hepp, said:

“We invite our members to nominate a health or medical charity for us to partner with every year and following our process of selection, we’re very pleased to be working with the The Migraine Trust in 2020. We champion the learning, health and well-being benefits of singing and performing in our choral community and hope to promote this through our relationship with the charity as well as supporting their aims and fundraising efforts.”
