Small Charity Week 13-18 June 2016
Show your love for small charities like The Migraine Trust
Small Charity Week is a campaign that celebrates and raises awareness of the essential work of the UK’s small charity sector. The week launches with ‘I ♥ Small Charities Day’ and we are asking you to pledge to support The Migraine Trust.
Small charities such as The Migraine Trust make an invaluable contribution to the lives of millions of individuals, communities and causes across the UK. Often, though, their voices struggle to be heard above the noise created by larger and better resourced charities.
People are often surprised to learn that The Migraine Trust is a small charity, with fewer staff and resources than they imagine. Small Charity Week is therefore an opportunity for us to educate people about our charity and highlight why we need your support.
How does The Migraine Trust compare to other charities?
To give some comparison to other health charities, our annual income is just 1.75% that of Diabetes UK’s, 4.4% that of the Epilepsy Society’s and 7.9% that of Asthma UK’s income1. Migraine, however, affects more people than diabetes, epilepsy and asthma combined – over eight million people, which is equivalent to the entire population of Scotland and Wales combined!
The Migraine Trust is committed to reducing the burden of migraine – on you, your family, employers, the NHS and society as a whole. There is much work to do and it’s an especially daunting challenge for a small charity, but we know we are making a difference to thousands of people’s lives each year and we can help many more people.
Please help us to help you
We rely on you, people affected by migraine, to continue our charitable work. The majority of our work is funded by individuals, including through donations, community fundraising and gifts in Wills. The Migraine Trust is not part of the NHS and we do not receive any government funding (learn more).
